TAKE ACTION: Small Businesses Oppose Effort to Eliminate Second Vote in Colorado’s Labor Peace Act

January 28, 2025

“By eliminating the second union vote, Senate Bill 5 disrupts the balance between employers, employees, and labor union bosses.”

DENVER (Jan. 28, 2025) – Colorado’s leading advocate for small business, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), announced its opposition to Senate Bill 5, which would undermine key provisions of the Labor Peace Act.

“For more than 80 years, hardworking Coloradans have benefitted from the Labor Peace Act,” NFIB State Director Michael Smith said. “The Labor Peace Act requires strong worker support before the implementation of union agreements, ensuring workers’ voices are heard. By eliminating the second union vote, Senate Bill 5 disrupts the balance between employers, employees, and labor union bosses. As this bill progresses through the Legislature, we will continue to advocate on behalf of Colorado’s small business owners and their hardworking employees.”
