Small Business Grant Applications Close Friday January 22

The State of Michigan has allocated $55 million in grants to small businesses hit hardest by forced shutdowns and limited occupancy due to the governor’s coronavirus restrictions. The grants awarded will be up to $20,000 for an eligible business that has been temporarily closed and up to $15,000 for an eligible business that has been partially closed or otherwise open.

The Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program will open for applications at 9:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 and close on Friday, January 22 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST.

More information on the grant program can be found HERE.

The governor also announced a $225 million second round of business aid that includes $125 million for a “Michigan Mainstreet Initiative”, $25 million in assistance for businesses with nine or fewer employees, and $75 million in additional grants to “help businesses grow”. The programs will be administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).

The legislature would need to approve the appropriations before the programs could be funded. NFIB will provide more details on the programs when it becomes available.
