Small Business Backs Will Lathrop for Attorney General

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Contact: Anthony Smith, NFIB Oregon State Director, anthony.smith@nfib.org   or Tony Malandra, Senior Media Manager, anthony.malandra@nfib.org   SALEM, Ore., Aug. 12, 2024—The political action committee for Oregon’s largest and leading small business association today announced its endorsement of Will Lathrop as the state’s attorney general.  “Will Lathrop has the experience needed to take on drug traffickers, vandals, and those engaged in organized retail theft,” said Anthony Smith, Oregon state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), speaking for the NFIB OR PAC, which made the endorsement.  “He is committed to restoring trust in government by ensuring state agencies follow the law and enforcing Oregon’s anti-corruption laws,” added Smith. “Oregon’s small businesses are confident that Will Lathrop will be a friend to the honest, hard-working men and women who own and operate Main Street enterprises across our state.”  Commented Lathrop, “I am honored and grateful to earn the endorsement of NFIB and its members. I am an experienced prosecutor, proven leader, and dedicated public servant – not a politician. I am a problem solver who’s committed to restoring safe communities and revitalizing Main Street by taking on organized crime and holding drug traffickers accountable. Oregon’s small businesses face a unique set of challenges and are leaving Oregon at an alarming rate. Runaway bureaucracy is crushing small businesses and family farms, threatening livability in our state for years to come.”  The typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year.
