SMALL BUSINESS ALERT: MIOSHA Cracking Down on Work Related Injury and Illness Reporting

NFIB wants to remind small business owners with more than 10 employees to that they are required to follow the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration’ s Recording and Reporting of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses Standard. MIOSHA requires that a summary of work-related injuries and illnesses, known as Form 300A, be posted from February 1 – April 30 and is in an area visible to employees. (Please note that this is a federal rule and not specific to Michigan.) We have been alerted that MIOSHA has increased their enforcement in regard to this standard and has been handing out citations and penalties for noncompliance. We have included links to all forms that should be filled out below. Additionally, any employer with 250 or more employees, and employers in a select group of industries with 20 to 249 employees, must electronically submit MIOSHA Form 300A data to federal OSHA between now and March 2, 2022. For questions on OSHA electronic tracking, please visit OSHA’s website.
