NFIB Supports Bill Easing Regulations on Home-Based Businesses

NFIB State Legislative Director Tim Nungesser will testify before the House Regulatory Reform Subcommittee on Thursday in support of House Bill 403, a measure that would ease the regulatory burden on home-based businesses.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Mike Giallombardo (Cape Coral), would protect people’s right to operate a home-based business and preempt local governments from excessive regulation.

“We believe entrepreneurs have a right to create and operate businesses at home as long as those businesses don’t bother their neighbors or violate local zoning ordinances,” Nungesser said.

“This bill would do that by preventing local governments from targeting home-based businesses with regulations that don’t apply to existing businesses while still ensuring that ordinary zoning laws and homeowners’ association rules can still be enforced,” he said.
