SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 22, 2024—The state’s largest and leading small business association today announced the launch of radio and digital ads encouraging a ‘No’ vote on Proposition 32, which seeks to raise California’s minimum wage to $18 per hour, a 10th increase in the past 11 years.
“More than any other state in the nation, California’s economy is a mess from misusing the minimum wage for political ends, leading to skyrocketing costs that hurt small businesses and middle-class families,” said John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which produced the ads.
“If Prop. 32 passes, it will make a bad situation even worse. The minimum wage always was, is now, and forever will be an entry-level wage for teens, young adults, and those seeking new job skills. Raising it has the immediate effect of hurting job opportunities and increasing the cost of living for all Californians.”
