January 13, 2025

News Release

The Minnesota DEED published its final proposed rules regulating the Minnesota Paid Leave program

On November 25th, 2024, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) published its final proposed rules regulating the Minnesota Paid Leave program. DEED collected public comments on the proposed rules through January 3, 2024, and will now review the comments and consider any additional changes to the final proposed rules. A copy of the Proposed Permanent Rules Regulating Paid Leave can be found here.

Together with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Business Partnership, and Hospitality Minnesota, NFIB submitted comments on the proposed rules, highlighting areas in which the rules could be improved to provide for additional balance between employers and employees, establish stronger program integrity, and control program costs. You can read the comments here.

Minnesota Paid Leave is the largest mandate ever imposed on businesses in Minnesota, and NFIB continues to push for reforms to protect small business owners from its harmful impacts.
