NFIB Members Discuss Their Paths to Elected Office

NFIB Members Discuss Their Paths to Elected Office

December 31, 2024

Small Business Rundown

Podcast features U.S. Representative-elect Mark Messmer and Missouri’s Governor-elect Mike Kehoe

A key step to ensure pro-small business policies nationwide is to elect pro-small business candidates. The Small Business Rundown podcast features two NFIB members who explain the path they took to running for office in November and the crucial role of small business owners in the legislative process.

U.S. Representative-elect Mark Messmer (IN-08), and Missouri’s Governor-elect Mike Kehoe are both small business owners and NFIB members. In this episode they also discuss their small business-focused policy priorities.

“The ability to influence policy that impacts small business at the state level has been a big impact and a big focus of mine during my time in the General Assembly and I intend to move that influence and direction to the federal level,” says Messmer.

“One of the things that got me into politics is my membership at NFIB…I learned a lot about what the government can do to really stifle small business sometimes and what we need to do to create paths for businesses to expand and grow,” explains Kehoe.
