NFIB Hosts Small Business Day at the Capitol

Small business owners heard from several leaders on issues affecting Main Street Alabama.

NFIB hosted its annual Small Business Day at the Capitol today in Montgomery. Members from throughout the state gathered near the State Capitol to learn more about the issues affecting Main Street Alabama.

Alabama Senator Chris Elliott

State Sen. Chris Elliott spoke with members about the latest developments with Alabama business taxes and regulations.

Alabama ACC Kailah Dozier

Kailah Dozier of the Alabama Community College System Innovation Center spoke with the assembled members about “upscaling” the state’s workforce and developing training opportunities for young people who don’t attend college.

Alabama Nick Moore

Her comments were echoed by Nick Moore, Education Policy Advisor & Coordinator in the Governor’s Office of Education & Workforce Transformation. Moore briefed NFIB members about scholarship funding and options for underperforming students.

Alabama Supreme Justice Will Sellers

Other speakers at today’s event included State Supreme Court Justice Will Sellers, who spoke to members about how Alabama’s judicial system works.

Alabama Mark Colson

Mark Colson, president and chief executive of the Alabama Trucking Association, talked about joining NFIB in its efforts to stop lawsuit abuse in Alabama.

“All in all, it was a great opportunity for our members to hear about the challenges affecting our state’s economy, especially our small businesses,” NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash said. “On behalf of our members, I want to thank all of our speakers for joining us and engaging with us on these important issues.”
