NFIB Awards California Delegation Guardian of Small Business Award

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2022)The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, awarded California Members of Congress with the Guardian of Small Business Award, NFIB’s most prestigious legislative recognition. The following Members were named Guardians of Small Business:
  • Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23)
  • Young Kim (CA-39)
  • Michelle Steel (CA-48)
  • Jay Obernolte (CA-08)
  • Mike Garcia (CA-25)
  • Tom McClintock (CA-04)
  • Darrell Issa (CA-50)
  • Doug LaMalfa (CA-01)
  • David Valadao (CA-21)
  • Ken Calvert (CA-42)
“These Members of Congress have been trusted voices in Washington for California’s small businesses,” said John Kabateck, NFIB California State Director. “They have voted with small businesses’ best interest in mind, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. On behalf of California’s small businesses, we are proud to name them Guardians of Small Business today.” “The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is awarded to Members of Congress who have proven themselves to be real champions of small businesses,” said Brad Close, NFIB President and CEO. “This group has earned the Guardian Award for their consistent votes with small businesses and their dedication to small business issues.” Find a complete list of the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award recipients from the 117th Congress, please click here. NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time during the 117th Congress earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
