Make the Voice of Small Business Strong Every Election

Registering to vote is a critical step to participate in elections, and there is no better time for small business owners to encourage their employees to register than during Employee Voter Registration Week, a weeklong effort from Sept. 18-22. This is an opportunity for small business owners and their employees to join the ranks of small business voters. Even if you’ve previously registered to vote, use this occasion to confirm your registration is valid. Doing so helps ensure that pro-small business candidates are elected, which is essential to ensure that the voice of small business is heard at the state and federal levels of government. National Voter Registration Day was Sept. 19, as part of the Employee Voter Registration Week effort to get more voters registered. Getting registered to vote is the first step in making your voice heard at the ballot box. Registering to vote, identifying your polling location, and researching who and what is on the ballot are part of making a plan to vote. The NFIB Elections Center has resources, information, and more about upcoming elections in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. These states are holding elections for executive, legislative, and judicial offices this year. Congressional special elections in Rhode Island and Utah are also scheduled for 2023. Good small business policy starts with electing pro-small business candidates. NFIB’s political team is constantly monitoring and engaging with campaigns across the country to help elect those who will be the best advocates for our members. It is crucial for small business owners to participate in elections, and even run for office, to amplify the voice of small business.
