A recent NFIB Jobs Report found 42 percent of small business owners have jobs they cannot fill, up from 40 percent in April.
In a conversation with Wake Up Mid-Missouri, NFIB State Director Brad Jones highlighted the findings of the latest Small Business Economic Trends (SBET) report and Jobs Report. With the Uncertainty Index rising to the highest point since November 2020, Jones also warned that 42 percent of small business owners have jobs they cannot fill.
“So goes small business, so goes the nation,” Jones said. “When you don’t know in six months what you’re going to be charging for your product. You don’t know what the sales are going to be like. You have no idea if you’re going to have enough people to work for you or how many people are going to leave you, all of those things are what drive small businesspeople crazy. Inflation is still the number one problem. And 42 percent of our members have job openings they can’t fill. It’s not a rosy picture of the economy.”
