Jones on Wake Up Mid-Missouri: ‘Inflation is the Hobgoblin For Small Business’

Missouri State Director Brad Jones joined “Wake Up Mid-Missouri” on 93.9 The Eagle to discuss the ongoing labor shortage and a new technical training campus in the state. CLICK HERE to listen to the full interview. Excerpts of the conversation are below.

When asked about the ongoing labor shortage, Jones warned that it continues to drive inflation:

“We’ve got 44 percent of small business people out there who cannot find anybody to go to work for them. They have the jobs. They have job openings. But they can’t find anybody to work for them. […] We haven’t gotten the labor issue straightened out, and therefore inflation issue remains consistent. Inflation is the hobgoblin for small business.”

During their conversation, Jones was asked whether the Ranken Technical College in Ashland will help relieve the labor shortage Missouri small businesses face. Jones said:

“I think it’s a wonderful thing. I’m glad that [Ranken Technical College] is doing it and those kinds of jobs and I think for those kids that are going to come out of there, they’re going to be very, very pleased with the reception that they’re going to get from the business community.”
