2021-22 NFIB Voting Record Shows Indiana Remains Very Friendly to Small Business

NFIB State Director?Natalie Robinson said today that 52 state legislators?—?two in the Senate and 50 in the House?—?achieved a 100 percent NFIB?Indiana Voting?Record?in the 2021-22 legislative session. In addition, 32 members of the Senate and 15 members of the House achieved voting records of 90 percent to 92 percent. The 2021-22 Indiana Voting?Record?includes 14 key?votes?on issues of critical importance to the state’s small businesses including tax relief, broadband expansion, and COVID-19 recovery efforts. It does not factor in that many of these legislators took the small business position on bills in committee. Click here to see the results for all legislators and an explanation of the issues. “Our voting record is meant to show voters whether their legislators support Indiana’s job creators, and this year’s report shows the vast majority of them absolutely do,” Robinson said. “One hundred fifty people sit in the Indiana House and Senate, and 99 of them, a nearly two-thirds majority, supported the small business position at least 90 percent of the time. “The latest national NFIB Optimism Index shows the number of small business owners expecting conditions to improve in the next six months is the lowest it’s been since the 1970s, but we’re grateful that Indiana remains one of the most small-business-friendly states in the country,” Robinson said. NFIB tracks key legislative issues identified by our small business members every session and then tabulates a score for each member of the state legislature. The 2021-22 NFIB Indiana Voting Record does not reflect all elements considered by a lawmaker when voting, nor does it represent a complete profile of a legislator, but it does provide information voters can consider when evaluating their legislator’s attitudes toward small businesses. “On behalf of our members, I want to sincerely thank the legislators who voted time and again to help Indiana’s job creators,” Robinson said.
