SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 17, 2022—The political action committee for California’s largest and leading small-business association today announced its endorsement of Juan Alanis for State Assembly.

“Small-business owners, the people they employ, the families those employees are raising, and the communities dependent on a healthy Main Street economy have a crystal-clear choice in this vital Assembly race, and it’s Juan Alanis,” said John Kabateck, California state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), speaking for the NFIB CA PAC, which made the endorsement. “His opposition to tax increases is especially timely, because after a couple of budgetary fat years, it’s looking as if there might be upcoming decreases in state revenues, and it should not fall on the backs of small businesses to make up the difference — not during these inflationary and recessionary times. Juan Alanis is small businesses’ choice for State Assembly.”

The new 22nd Assembly District includes parts of Merced and Stanislaus counties, including the entire communities of Ceres, Gustine, Modesto, Newman, Patterson, and Turlock.

NFIB’s national membership spans the spectrum of business operations, ranging from sole proprietor enterprises to firms with hundreds of employees. While there is no standard definition of a small business, the typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year. The NFIB membership is a reflection of American small business. Small-business owners are also a potent political force.
