  • The Business Journal, December 28—NFIB’s news release on the top five compliance headaches for 2024 published by the Central Valley weekly.
  • Bay City News, December 27—San Francisco-area wire service mentions one of NFIB’s top five compliance headaches in a story on new laws taking effect in 2024. Quote from State Director John Kabateck from the same news release ran in the same-day edition of the Sierra Sun.
  • The Center Square, December 27—In a story that ran in six other media outlets, State Director John Kabateck predicts how businesses will respond to hike in minimum wage, especially in the fast-food industry.
  • GV Wire, December 15—Small and ethnically owned businesses are bearing the brunt of the retail theft epidemic, State Director John Kabateck tells the Fresno-based online news outlet.
  • KNX 1070 NewsRadio, Los Angeles, November 24—State Director John Kabateck outlines the importance of Small Business Saturday.
  • Los Angeles Business Journal, November 20—Columnist Charles Crumpley quotes Kabateck for a column on the small business blues.
  • Wall Street Journal, November 3—NFIB member Nick Payzant, owner of Cerna Healthcare in Irvine, discusses the current state of the labor market.
  • CBS Morning News, November 2—NFIB member Denise Duncan, owner of AT Industrial Products in Pomona, interviewed about the effect high interest rates are having on her business.
  • Northern California Record, November 2—Tim Taylor, NFIB California’s chief policy analyst, discusses the bipartisan support two bills on the state’s water supply have received.
  • The Center Square, October 31—State Director John Kabateck makes a prediction on how fast-food enterprises will now have to operate in the wake of Assembly Bill 1228’s signing into law substantially spiking the minimum wage.
  • Northern California Record, October 30—Elizabeth Milito, executive director of NFIB’s Small Business Legal Center, tells publication that Senate Bill 365, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law, will place additional burdens on the courts by taking cases that should be arbitrated and letting them be litigated instead.
  • Comstock’s, October 23—State Director John Kabateck tells the business publication that NFIB members are not eager to blame local police departments or county sheriffs for the rise in retail theft, but instead are asking for more officers.
  • Libertarian Counterpoint, October 23—How Small Business Bills Shape California’s Future was the episode title featuring State Director John Kabateck discussing the 2023 session of the California Legislature. Kabateck’s remarks begin at the 06:06-minute mark. NFIB does not endorse any political party’s platform but is happy to explain the small business agenda to any of their media.
  • The Center Square, October 3—NFIB makes a prediction on what the new $20 an hour minimum-wage rate for fast-food workers will mean for that industry. Story ran throughout the state on The Center Square’s network of subscribers.
  • CalMatters, October 1—State Director John Kabateck thanks Gov. Gavin Newsom for vetoing Senate Bill 799, which would have extended unemployment benefits to employed workers who opt to go out on strike. Story ran in other media subscribing to the CalMatters network.
  • Fox News, September 28—In a news story that ran in numerous publications across the nation, State Director John Kabateck says that partial blame for the spike in California crime rates lies with Proposition 47, which reduced from felonies to misdemeanors certain violations.
  • Lassen County Times, September 14—Coverage of NFIB’s statewide news release criticizing Senate Bill 799 extending unemployment benefits to workers with jobs who opt to out on strike.
  • Bloomberg Law, September 7—NFIB’s comments on Senate Bill 799, which would extend unemployment benefits to striking workers, included in story.
  • Northern California Record, August 31—NFIB quoted about bill that would restrict employers from exercising their right to free speech.
  • Sacramento Business Journal, August 29—State Director John Kabateck comments on Senate Bill 799, which would award unemployment benefits for workers who choose to go out on strike.

Lassen County Times also reported on the release.
  • Associated Press, April 26—For a story that ran in more than 100 media outlets across the nation and in Canada, State Director John Kabateck is quoted about a legislative plan to tax big businesses more so it could provide small businesses with tax cuts.
