New Governor’s executive order is “a welcome change from the last administration.”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HARRISBURG (Jan. 24, 2023) – This afternoon, Gov. Josh Shapiro signed an executive order creating an Office of Transformation and Opportunity to spearhead economic growth, job creation, and innovation in the Commonwealth. He also announced a new Economic Development Strategy Group, to be chaired by the Governor, and consisting of the Chief Transformation and Opportunity Officer and the Secretaries of Labor & Industry, Community and Economic Development, Transportation, Agriculture, Education, and Environmental Protection. National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) State Director Greg Moreland issued the following statement in response to Gov. Shapiro’s initiatives:
“This is a step in the right direction and a positive sign that Governor Shapiro and his staff are taking steps to improve the state’s permitting process, allowing businesses to expand and undertake new ventures in realistic timeframes. Hopefully, these efforts will provide more clarity and certainty to Main Street businesses, something that has been lacking for years.
“NFIB and our 13,000 small business members are excited that Governor Shapiro is addressing his campaign promises of improving the business climate here in Pennsylvania. This is a welcome change from the last administration.”
