NFIB Wants to Know How Rising Health Costs Impact Your Massachusetts Business

Recently, the Health Policy Commission and the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing conducted their annual health growth benchmark hearing. This meeting is to determine whether the cost growth benchmark should be adjusted for the average growth in total health care expenditures for 2023. NFIB provided testimony at the hearing emphasizing healthcare expenses continue to rise for small businesses in Massachusetts. Our unique merged market serves as a major disadvantage for small employers and seemingly leads to cross-subsidizing of the health market, meaning small businesses pay more so that individuals pay less.
