Lawmakers Hit 100 Day Mark Without Passing Important Small Business Legislation

Iowa Small Business: Make Your Voice Heard on Unemployment Benefits!

This week, the Iowa legislature hit the 100 day mark, a mark that usually means the end of session. However, lawmakers are still at the Capitol and they haven’t passed important small business legislation. Lawmakers need to hear from small business owners about this important legislation! The state senate has passed legislation that will reduce unemployment benefits from 6 months to 4 months, help Iowans get back to work quicker, and fill the tens of thousands of job openings in our state. It will also add a one-week waiting period for unemployment benefits that will save employers over $100 million dollars a year and reduce fraud in the unemployment system. However, the state house is not yet fully on board with these ideas. It is important you contact your State Representative today and ask them to pass HF 2355 this critical workforce legislation and get Iowans back to work and keep Iowa’s economy moving forward. You can make your voice heard here.
