DENVER, March 8, 2022—Grand Junction insurance executive Dan Jones was named to the Leadership Council of Colorado’s largest small-business association, it was announced today. In that role, he will give advice on future actions within the framework of the National Federation of Independent Business’s (NFIB) mission statement on behalf of the membership statewide.

“Being able to call on the experience of a small-business owner the caliber of Dan Jones will be very helpful in shaping my committee testimony on bills of vital importance to Main Street businesses,” said Tony Gagliardi, Colorado state director for NFIB, the nation’s largest and leading small-business association.

Jones is a Managing Partner with Voluntary Insurance Partners, specializing in employee benefits helping small employers find benefits that make sense for their budget as well as for the employees. He has been in the insurance industry for over 12 years.

Jones is no stranger to NFIB. His first experience was more than 30 years ago when an NFIB membership representative came into his family flower shop in Craig, Colorado, to renew the membership. At the encouragement of his mom, he renewed the membership and started reading the material and voting on the ballots. Later, he was very proud when the same rep presented the flower shop with a 10-year anniversary plaque.

In 1988, Jones accepted a position as a field representative for NFIB in Wisconsin and later became a division manager for NFIB, working closely with NFIB Wisconsin State Director, Bill G Smith. Over the course of 20 years, he worked either as a manager or as a field representative in both Wisconsin and later Michigan.

Leaving NFIB to pursue his own business development, Dan went into the insurance business, selling individual health, life and Medicare plans. Delighted to move back home to Colorado in 2017, Dan started working primarily in employee benefits.

“I know NFIB and small-business owners well,” said Jones. “I’m looking forward to this new challenge of advocating for the small-business agenda with the elected officials and policymakers who make the laws, rules, and regulations they must abide by. It’s been part of NFIB’s educational mission for 78 years to remind people that small businesses are not smaller versions of big businesses. A one-size-fit-all law or tax can do more harm than good.”
