Five Ways Congress and the White House Can Ease Inflation

Five Ways Congress and the White House Can Ease Inflation

June 5, 2024 Last Edit: July 29, 2024

Small business owners continue to rank inflation as their top small business problem since November 2021

What it means: To help ease high inflation, NFIB proposed five ways Congress and the White House can help small businesses fight inflation.

Our take: “Inflation has overwhelmed small business owners in an already uncertain economy, and they need relief. By lessening regulatory burdens, providing tax relief, and more, Washington can prioritize the small business economy,” – said Jeff Brabant, NFIB Vice President of Federal Government Relations. https://strgnfibcom.blob.core.windows.net/nfibcom/Inflation-One-Pager.pdf

Since November 2021, inflation has consistently ranked as one of small businesses’ top concerns. NFIB released a list of five ways Congress and the White House can ease inflation cost pressures for small businesses.

The list includes addressing additional top small business concerns such as:

  • Costly regulations
  • Stopping the Massive Tax Hike on Small Businesses
  • Swipe fees

If Congress and the White House act on these issues, it would save small business owners time and money to put back into their businesses and employees. It is also equally important to avoid adding new regulations and tax increases, which is why making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent before it expires in 2025 is crucial.

NFIB is sharing these top five priorities with members of Congress and the administration to educate them on how to ease inflation for small businesses. Listen to the Small Business Rundown for more information on these five issues from experts. Take Action: Urge Congress to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent before it expires in 2025.
