NFIB urges lawmakers to pass balanced budget & pro-growth policies
NFIB Pennsylvania State Director Greg Moreland issued the below statement following the General Assembly’s failure to pass the state budget by the June 30th constitutional deadline.
“Once again, Pennsylvania lawmakers have ignored their duty to pass the state budget on time, leaving small businesses on alert at what’s yet to come. As we’ve seen in previous years, lawmakers will pass a costly budget when it’s convenient for them. Main Street businesses remain deeply concerned that continued government spending could result in higher taxes and additional fees in the years ahead. This is not how our small business members run their businesses, and it’s not how legislators should run the Commonwealth.
“Small business owners are already frustrated with the lack of pro-growth legislation coming out of neither the Pennsylvania House nor Senate, despite lawmakers’ promises to be advocates for small businesses. This frustration is evident in our monthly survey, which shows that small business optimism is low, and uncertainty is high. Pennsylvania small business owners deserve to be prioritized at the Capitol, and we urge members of the General Assembly to pass a balanced budget and policies that will ignite our economy.”
