Governor Polis vetoes legislative effort that would have undermined Colorado’s Labor Peace Act

Last week, Governor Jared Polis vetoed HB 1005, which would have eliminated the second-vote requirement for unionization under the Colorado Labor Peace Act. After the veto was issued, NFIB State Director Michael Smith said:

“For two years in a row, the Legislature has attempted to disrupt the balance struck between employers, employees, and union bosses. Thankfully, Governor Polis has stood with the majority of Coloradans who oppose these changes and protected the Labor Peace Act. HB 1005 would have made it significantly more difficult for job creators to manage their workforce, control costs, and keep their doors open. On behalf of Main Street and the hardworking Coloradans they employ, we thank Governor Polis for vetoing HB 1005.”
