NFIB opposes a 3% surtax on income over $640,000

While the biggest news out of the State House was the abrupt resignation of Speaker Joe Shekarchi as he seeks a judgeship and Representative Christopher Blazejewski taking the reins in the House, bills that will impact your bottom line are still being heard in committee.

Over the past few weeks NFIB has submitted testimony on legislation that would:

  • Add a 3% surtax on income over $640,000 (oppose)
  • Increase the estate tax exemption and eliminate the estate tax entirely (support)
  • Raise the state minimum wage to as much as $24 per hour while increasing the tipped wage (oppose)
  • Reduce the minimum corporate tax (support)
  • Create a digital ad tax (oppose)
  • Allow striking workers to collect unemployment benefits (oppose)
  • Make it easier for unionization to occur in small businesses (oppose)

As session winds down over the next few weeks and votes begin to occur on key pieces of legislation, keep an eye on your inboxes for important updates.
