Total collections and receipts in Illinois up $2.1 billion through the end of April
Illinois’s tax and revenue collections for fiscal year 2026 (FY26) are still set to exceed the previous year’s collections, according to a report by the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CGFA).
Through the first 10 months of FY26, overall state tax collections were up $2.2 billion (4.6%). Federal transfers have declined by $45 million (-1.4%). Overall tax and revenue collections, combining federal and state sources, were up $2.1 billion (4.2%).
Year-over-year through April 30:
– Personal income tax collections are up $1.2 billion (4.2%)
– Corporate income tax collections are down $344 million (-7.1%)
– Sales tax collections are up $387 million (4.0%)
– Estate (death) tax collections are up $216 million (42.4%)
– Insurance tax and fee collections are up $121 million (29.7%)
– Lottery collections are up $18 million (2.7%)
– Gaming tax collections are up $55 million (34.8%)
– Sports wagering tax collections are up $153 million (95.0%)
Illinois’ fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. Deposits into the state’s General Fund are up $1.7 billion (3.8%).
