Reject new or increased taxes on small business
NFIB State Director Ashley Ranslow Submits Testimony for Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on Economic Development and Taxes
The Joint Legislative Budget Hearings on Economic Development and Taxes for the 2026-27 Executive Budget were held on February 26th as part of a month-long series of hearings conducted by the Senate Finance and Assembly Ways and Means Committees. NFIB submitted testimony highlighting support of regulatory reform, State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) reform, auto insurance reform, overall economic development reform, and strong opposition to tax increases.
The testimony highlighted specific proposals to:
- Reduce burdensome regulations and eliminate “red tape” in order to improve the overall small business environment.
- Crack down on unaffordable automobile insurance, including staged accident fraud and reforms to the abusive and costly litigation environment.
- Reform the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) process which slows, delays, or prevents project development and adds substantial costs to building.
- Reject new or increased taxes on small business, including increases to the corporate tax rate, personal income tax rate, and reauthorization of a tax on private health insurance plans.
