Reminder: Ohio Minimum Wage Increased on Jan. 1

January 2, 2026

The minimum wage increased to $11 per hour

On January 1, Ohio’s minimum wage increased to $11 an hour for non-tipped workers and $5.50 for tipped employees. The increase is a result of Ohioans passing a constitutional amendment in 2006, which increases the state minimum wage every year based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The Ohio General Assembly returns to session on January 28. Several bills sponsored by Democrats in the House and Senate have been introduced to further increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour. NFIB opposes these bills, and will continue sharing with lawmakers that the free market should dictate wages, not the government.

For more information on the increase, please visit the Ohio Department of Commerce.
