December 29, 2025

The award honors lawmakers for their strong support of small businesses

The Tennessee office of NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, recently presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business award to state Rep. Tandy Darby (District 76, which includes Weakley County and part of Carroll and Henry counties).

“Tandy Darby is an outstanding supporter of small business in the Tennessee State House,” NFIB State Director Jim Brown said. “Representative Darby has voted for meaningful tax, labor, tort and regulatory reforms that have helped small businesses in District 76 and statewide to grow their businesses, create jobs and help their communities. His 100 percent NFIB Voting Record the last five years demonstrates his unwavering support for small business.”

The presentation was made in Rep. Darby’s state office in Nashville. The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members, voted to present the award to Darby for his unwavering support on key small business issues.

Darby, an NFIB member, said, “It’s a high honor to be recognized with the NFIB Guardian of Small Business award. Supporting small businesses has been and will be a priority of mine in Nashville. When small businesses succeed, our communities across Tennessee thrive.”

Darby chairs the House Banking & Consumer Affairs Subcommittee and serves on the full Commerce Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Natural Resources and Fiscal Review committees and the Select Committee on Rules.
