Member responses determine NFIB’s policy priorities
NFIB member ballots give small business owners the opportunity to make their voice heard and vote on the issues impacting their business most. NFIB’s One Member, One Vote program allows each member an equal voice in dictating the state and federal lobbying positions NFIB takes for the upcoming year. This system ensures all voices are heard on issues affecting small businesses across the country.
NFIB member ballots are sent via email and fax. The first round will be available to vote on Dec. 3 to members in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia. If you live in a state not listed above, you should expect your ballot by Jan. 5.
State ballots include a variety of critical issues for Main Street, including taxes, paid leave, minimum wage, and more. Each issue allows members to vote either “yes”, “no”, or “undecided.” Member positions that gain majority support become the focus for NFIB’s state advocacy team, who work to advance the interests of small businesses in all 50 state capitals and Washington, DC.
State issues on member ballots are specific to each state. This helps the advocacy team focus on the most important issues impacting members in their respective states. NFIB member ballots are a foundational tool and have been used to identify key issues for members for more than 80 years.
NFIB state ballots can only be voted on by NFIB members. If you aren’t an NFIB member, join today to vote on your state’s ballot. Filling out your member ballot is a quick process and helps shape NFIB’s efforts and impact for the coming year.
