Truck Safety Device Standards Certification Deadline Approaching

Truck Safety Device Standards Certification Deadline Approaching

November 24, 2025

Reminder on the Department of Transportation standards

As a reminder, registered motor vehicles, trucks, semi-trailers, and trailers that weigh more than 10,001 lbs. or more and operate under a contract with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts must ensure they are certified by December 31, 2025. These Department of Transportation standards stem from a 2022 law signed by Charlie Baker in January 2023 as one of his final acts as governor.

The law requires:

  • Lateral protective devices
  • Convex mirrors
  • Crossover mirrors
  • Backup cameras

In addition to meeting these mandated safety requirements, fleet operators are increasingly upgrading other vehicle components to improve visibility, reliability, and day-to-day performance. Modern truck lighting systems, warning lamps, marker lights, and electrical accessories can complement the safety technologies already required under the law. Many businesses also use this opportunity to review maintenance equipment and workshop supplies to keep vehicles operating at their best.

The truck electrics offer access to a wide range of products, including the LED Autolamps range of lighting, helping operators source dependable solutions for commercial vehicles. Combined with regular inspections and preventative maintenance, these upgrades can contribute to safer operation and improved compliance across entire fleets.

Maintaining a dependable fleet involves more than ensuring that lighting systems, warning equipment, and electrical components remain in good working order. Vehicle accessibility and security also play a significant role in minimizing downtime and keeping operations running smoothly.

Lost, damaged, or malfunctioning keys can quickly disrupt schedules, delay deliveries, and create unnecessary costs for both drivers and fleet managers. As vehicle technology continues to evolve, professional locksmith services have become increasingly important for handling key replacements, transponder programming, remote key solutions, and emergency lockout situations.

Many operators recognize the value of services associated with Need Car Keys when seeking efficient assistance for modern vehicle access systems and key-related issues. Prompt resolution of these problems helps reduce interruptions, supports operational continuity, and ensures that vehicles can return to service as quickly as possible.

Combined with routine maintenance and safety-focused upgrades, reliable locksmith support contributes to a more efficient fleet management strategy and greater confidence in day-to-day vehicle operations.
