CHEYENNE (Nov. 18, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, sent a letter to U.S. Representative Harriet Hageman (R-WY) in support of H.J. Res 130, which would repeal a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule that significantly restricts energy development in Wyoming.

“Repealing this rule is good for Main Street businesses in Wyoming,” NFIB State Director Michael Smith said. “Tapping into our state’s energy reserves will create good-paying jobs, lower energy costs, and revitalize the local economy.”

In the letter, Federal Government Relations Principal Louis Bertolotti highlighted small business owners’ support for streamlining regulations on energy production.

“Unfortunately, access to affordable and reliable energy remains a problem for small businesses. In a recent NFIB member ballot, 88% of NFIB members supported Congress streamlining regulations on the production and transportation of energy sources. Repealing these burdensome BLM land restrictions would do just that, allowing for the production of more American energy on American land.”

Background:

In September, NFIB supported H.J. Res 104, which nullified a similar BLM rule that significantly restricted energy development in Montana.

According to a recent NFIB survey, the cost of natural gas, propane, gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil is ranked as the 6th most pressing issue for small businesses nationwide.
