Advocacy Tips that Led to Historic Tax Win for Small Business

Advocacy Tips that Led to Historic Tax Win for Small Business

October 7, 2025

NFIB’s podcast highlights advocacy efforts that stopped a massive tax hike for 33 million small businesses

What it means: Recent episodes of the Small Business Rundown podcast cover a historic victory for small business that prevents a massive tax hike for more than 33 million businesses, and tips for meeting with lawmakers to shape future legislation.

A small business owner’s take: “It makes a huge impact on our business,” said Rodney Wideman, NFIB member and Missouri small business owner. “Like most business owners, our biggest business expense is our taxes and wages. Having the certainty of knowing where that [tax rate] is gives us more confidence and insight on how to invest, how to manage, where to keep prices at for our customers, and wages for our employees to stay competitive and have a productive business. We gained five more employees since the Small Business Tax Deduction, so that’s really helped us grow.”
