North Dakota small businesses support repeal of rule limiting energy development in the state

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, sent a letter to U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (ND-At Large) and the US. Senate in support of S.J. Res. 62, which would repeal a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule that significantly restricted energy development in North Dakota.

“Energy costs are regularly cited as a top business concern for small business owners,” said Don Larson, NFIB North Dakota State Director. “Repealing the Bureau of Land Management rule will allow more energy production in North Dakota. This will create jobs, lower energy costs, and stimulate the economy. Thank you, Senator Cramer for your leadership on this issue.”

According to a recent NFIB member ballot, 88% of NFIB members agreed that Congress should “streamline regulations to facilitate the production and transport of oil, natural gas, and other energy sources in the United States.”2 Repealing this burdensome BLM rule would do just that, overturning restrictions on American energy produced in North Dakota.
