NFIB Making Media Noise on Two Oregon Issues

Gas tax, meal-break court case drawing the interest of TV, radio, and print outlets

NFIB Oregon State Director Anthony Smith was a busy man last week, attending to reporters’ and talk-show hosts’ questions about small businesses’ stance on Measure 120, the gas tax ballot initiative, and on NFIB’s participation in a meal-break case before the State Supreme Court.

On May 14, KOIN 6 News, the CBS affiliate in Portland, aired an interview with Smith about Measure 120, the ballot initiative raising gas taxes and registration fees if it passes.

Earlier in the same week, Pacific Northwest powerhouse radio host Lars Larson interviewed Smith about NFIB’s involvement in a request of the Oregon Supreme Court to review a decision made by a lower court over meal breaks.

The interviews were spurred in part by news releases NFIB sent statewide to the media, both of which were published by the Cascade Business News among others, NFIB Kicks Off ‘No on Measure 120’ Awareness Campaign and Oregon Supreme Court Asked to Review Meal Break Decision. Other media covering NFIB’s activity included KRCW-TV, KXL-FM News 101, and Yahoo News.
