NFIB Hosts Leadership Council Retreat in Camdenton, Missouri

August 25, 2025

Retreat featured a reception honoring Majority Floor Leader Rep. Alex Riley and remarks from Sen. Eric Schmitt.

NFIB hosted small business owners and industry leaders from across the Show-Me State for a retreat in Camdenton, Missouri. During the retreat, participants discussed Prop A, the Legislature’s attempt to mitigate the most harmful aspects of the proposals, and the fight ahead.

Attendees received updates on federal legislation, including NFIB’s successful effort to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent, and NFIB’s fight to repeal Beneficial Ownership Information reporting requirements. Job creators also had the opportunity to meet Majority Floor Leader Rep. Alex Riley (R-District 134) and hear remarks from Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri).

“With strong, pro-small business policies from the White House and Congress, our economy is roaring, and businesses are reaping the benefits. Wages are up, taxes are lower,” Sen. Schmitt said in a video provided to NFIB. “At the heart of this comeback is President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, his bold, pro-growth package that puts small businesses and American workers back in the center of our economy, where they belong.”

Following the event, NFIB State Director Brad Jones said, “Our members’ advocacy makes a big difference, whether we’re working to advance pro-small business reforms or stop anti-growth legislation. Main Street is the foundation of our economy, and we will continue fighting on their behalf in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C.”

We hope you’ll continue to actively reach out and voice your concerns with lawmakers! If you have any questions or want to get more involved, please contact Grassroots Manager ML McGinty at ml.mcginty@nfib.org or 615-830-5354.
