Small Businesses Urge Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to Veto Expansion of Workplace Liability and Red Tape

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Illinois’ leading small business advocacy organization, recently sent a letter to Governor J.B. Pritzker requesting he veto SB 1976.

SB 1976 requires Illinois agencies to adopt rolled-back federal workplace regulations and incorporate them into the state’s administrative code. The proposal will create additional red tape, costs, and legal uncertainty for Illinois’ small-business community.

“Small businesses are calling on Governor Pritzker to veto SB 1976 and its unwarranted expansion of workplace liability and red tape,” said NFIB Illinois State Director Noah Finley. “Small businesses need regulatory relief, not lawsuits.”

NFIB has spoken out against this bill throughout the legislative session. As the letter notes, SB 1976 will “create additional red tape, costs, and legal uncertainty for Illinois’ small-business community.”
