COVID Sick Leave Sunsets in New York

As of July 31, 2025, New York employers are no longer required to provide separate leave for COVID-19 quarantines and isolations. Originally enacted in March 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, New York’s COVID-19 Sick Leave required employers to provide up to 14 days of protected, paid leave to employees subject to a mandatory or precautionary order of isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19. It was limited exclusively to COVID-19, separate from other paid sick and safe leave benefits. However, while COVID-19 sick leave has ended, business owners should remain compliant with all other paid sick and safe leave benefits.
