HONOLULU, July 2, 2025—From NFIB Hawaii State Director Michael Iosua on today’s release of the monthly Jobs Report from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), showing 36% (seasonally adjusted) of small business owners reported job openings they could not fill in June, up two points from May.
“With our Legislature now out of session until next year, small business owners will enjoy a brief bit of time to better calculate and make plans for future hiring. One of the higher intangibles small-business owners have always asked for is consistency, knowing that rules, regulations, and taxes they operate under will be the same from one year to the next.”
NFIB’s Jobs Report is a national survey of NFIB-member small-business owners, not broken down by state. The typical NFIB member employs between one and nine people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year.
From NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg
“Despite the slowing labor market, many small business owners are still looking to attract applicants and hire for their open positions. Compensation pressures remain strong for those owners who are competing to retain and attract talent in their business.”
