NFIB’s annual event gives members a chance to engage directly with lawmakers

NFIB Assistant State Director Cameron Garczyk led a group of Ohio small business owners in Washington, D.C. June 9-11 for NFIB’s 2025 Fly-In event. The annual event allows NFIB members to meet with their elected officials directly for a day on Capitol Hill.

The Ohio delegation met with seven Congressional offices this year and topics included the importance of making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and repealing the burdensome beneficial ownership reporting requirements.

NFIB members met with Senator Bernie Moreno and thanked him for co-sponsoring the Big Brother Overreach Act, legislation that would repeal the beneficial ownership reporting requirements. Owners met with Senator Jon Husted and urged him to support the Big Brother Overreach Act along with Sen. Moreno.

Ohio small business owners had the opportunity to thank Congressman Warren Davidson for leading on the beneficial ownership repealing efforts and being the lead sponsor of the Big Brother Overreach Act. Congressman Jim Jordan had a great discussion with owners on the Small Business Deduction. NFIB members also met with the offices of Rep. Mike Carey, Rep. Mike Turner, and Rep. Troy Balderson. The NFIB Ohio delegation urged all members of Congress to support HR 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which would make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent.

“The 2025 Fly-In was a great success for Ohio small business owners who got to speak with several members of Congress and both of our U.S. Senators on the small business economy,” said Garczyk. “Our members made sure the voices of Ohio’s small businesses were heard on Capitol Hill.”
