Small businesses urge Gov. DeSantis to make HB 7031 law and eliminate the business rent tax

Florida’s small businesses applaud the Florida Legislature for passing House Bill 7031 and eliminating the business rent tax permanently. The tax cut package legislation has been delivered to Governor DeSantis, and small business owners encourage him to sign it.

“The elimination of the business rent tax is something Florida small businesses have worked towards for several years, and now it is finally a reality,” said Bill Herrle, NFIB Florida Executive Director. “Our members encourage Governor DeSantis to sign the tax cut package, which will permanently eliminate the business rent tax. This is historic legislation that continues to make Florida one of the best states in the nation to own a small business.”

According to NFIB’s latest survey, taxes rose as the number one top problem for small business owners nationwide. The business rent tax elimination will take effect on October 1, 2025, and provide immediate relief to the small business community.
