Oppose Job-Killing Regulations in Illinois. Say ‘No” to SB 1976!

SB 1976 would require Illinois to adopt many of the Biden Administration’s workplace regulations—including its 2024 independent-contracting rule—if the federal rules are rolled back or modified by the new administration.

Many of these rules imposed significant red tape and costs on Main Street businesses. At the beginning of this month, the new administration announced it would no longer enforce the 2024 independent-contracting rule.

This rule imposed a complex multi-factor test that made it harder for individuals to work as independent contractors, reduced worker flexibility, increased employer costs, and exposed employers to additional lawsuits alleging worker misclassification.

Springfield legislators want to bring this and similar Biden Administration rules back and apply them to Illinois businesses and workers, increasing the cost of doing business in this state.

Your legislators need to hear from you about how this would impact your small business!
