NFIB’s New York State Director Testifies at the State Budget Hearing on Economic Development

On January 30th, NFIB’s New York State Director, Ashley Ranslow, testified at the FY 2025 Economic Development Joint Legislative Public Hearing.

Additionally, NFIB submitted written testimony to legislators addressing the unique challenges facing small businesses across New York in the post-pandemic economy, and the importance of supporting pro-small business priorities contained within Governor Kathy Hochul’s Executive Budget including:

  • Sunsetting COVID-19 sick leave on July 31st, 2024
  • Removing liquidated damages on frequency of pay violations for manual workers, meaning manual workers paid bi-weekly instead of weekly cannot be awarded up to half of their wages for the last six years.
  • Addressing the state’s $7 billion Unemployment Insurance debt to lower the tax burden on businesses.
