NFIB Nebraska State Director Encourages Senate to Pass LB 258 and LB 415

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) urges Nebraska lawmakers to vote in favor of LB 258, a bill that caps the minimum wage increase at 1.5%, and LB 415, a bill that will make changes to the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, also known as Initiative 436 or the Paid Sick Leave Ballot Initiative. With the Committee Amendment, LB 415 will also exempt Nebraska businesses with 10 or fewer employees

“LB 415 and LB 258 will provide much-needed certainty and flexibility for Nebraska’s small businesses,” said NFIB Nebraska State Director Ryan McIntosh. “By capping the minimum wage increase and developing a youth wage, LB 258 will help control inflationary effects on small businesses. LB 415 will amend the Paid Sick Leave Ballot Initiative and remove red tape that hinders hiring and growth. Fortunately, both bills have advanced to Select File. Now, the Legislature must continue to support Main Street and get these bills across the finish line.”

NFIB has been a consistent voice in the debate of these two bills, especially the paid leave initiative, and encourages the senators to continue to prioritize and support these bills that will give a small businesses a fighting chance.
