TAKE ACTION: Stop Higher Unemployment and Workers’ Comp Payouts!

Higher UI and WC payments mean bigger bills, more workers out longer

Some New Hampshire lawmakers want substantial increases in unemployment insurance (UI) and workers’ compensation payouts. Both programs are entirely funded by employers.

BACKGROUND

HB 542 increases the maximum weekly unemployment payout from $427 to $669 – a 57% bump! This change will increase UI taxes, and those tax hikes could be significant in the event of a mild or severe recession.

HF 744 raises the weekly payout for some workers’ comp claims from 60% to 66 2/3% – an 11% increase. Testimony indicated this would increase premiums by 5% to 10%.

TAKE ACTION

YOU can make sure these bad ideas don’t go any farther this year. Take Action HERE and make your voice heard TODAY!

Not only do these proposals mean higher costs for your small business, but they’ll keep more people out of the workforce for longer.

New Hampshire can’t afford to have more working-age people on the sideline when there are nearly two job openings for every unemployed person right now.

The New Hampshire House Labor Committee recommended against passing these bills, but they were tabled on the House Floor – meaning they can come back to life if the House votes to bring them back up.
