ICYMI: Have Your Unemployment Insurance Tax Rates Increased? Take NFIB’s Survey Now!

NFIB needs to hear from you! NFIB’s New York office has already received calls and emails from members about their 2021 Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax rates increasing by as much as 200%.

The New York State Department of Labor is sending out UI tax rate notices for 2021. Unfortunately, as expected, UI tax rates are increasing across-the-board for all New York small businesses. While the Governor, Senate, and Assembly took action to freeze an employer’s unemployment insurance experience rating, they have not yet taken action to address the state’s depleted UI trust fund.

NFIB has been leading the effort to mitigate UI tax rate increases on New York’s small businesses. Throughout the pandemic, NFIB’s New York office advocated to freeze UI experience ratings, use federal funding to help replenish the UI trust fund, and additional legislative solutions.

Our office will continue to lead the effort on unemployment insurance tax rates, but we need to hear from you! Please complete this short survey on your UI tax rate for 2021. Your response will remain anonymous and will help us as we urge lawmakers to act on New York’s UI trust fund sooner than later.
