NFIB State Director?Gregg Thompson said today that 98 state legislators — 27 in the Senate and 71 in the House — achieved a 100 percent NFIB?North Carolina Voting?Record?in the 2021-22 legislative session.

The 2021-22 North Carolina Voting?Record?includes nine key?votes?on issues of critical importance to the state’s small businesses including broadband expansion, eminent domain, and COVID-19 recovery efforts. It does include votes legislators may have taken in committee. “It’s clear from the voting record that North Carolina remains very friendly to small businesses,” Thompson said. “One reason for that is that so many of our elected leaders own or have owned their own small businesses. They understand the challenges facing North Carolina’s job creators, and they’re committed to creating opportunities that allow businesses to grow and create jobs.

“These are very challenging times for North Carolina’s small businesses,” Thompson said. “Our members are dealing with the worst inflation since the ’80s in addition to disruptions in the supply chain and ongoing difficulties in finding qualified workers to fill the positions that are available, but it helps to have a General Assembly that’s committed to keeping North Carolina one of the most small-business-friendly states in the country.”

The 2021-22 NFIB North Carolina Voting Record does not reflect all elements considered by a lawmaker when voting, nor does it represent a complete profile of a legislator, but it does provide information voters can consider when evaluating their legislator’s attitudes toward small businesses.
