NFIB Presents Senator McColley With Prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award

NFIB, Ohio’s leading small business advocacy organization, today presented its prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award to state Sen. Rob McColley. He was recognized for his outstanding efforts to support small business issues in the Ohio Legislature. McColley is the first state senator from the area to receive the award since 1991. “Senator McColley has an impressive record on small business issues in the General Assembly,” NFIB Ohio Executive Director Roger Geiger said. “During his tenure there, he has been a strong advocate of Ohio’s small business community, maintaining a 100% lifetime voting record with NFIB. “His work the lead sponsorship of regulatory reform, licensure reform, and broadband expansion in the 134th Ohio General Assembly were all important policy initiatives for small business owners and appreciated by our members,” Geiger said. “Senator McColley is truly deserving of this recognition.” McColley said, “NFIB has been the leading advocate for small businesses across Ohio for generations. Their recognition of our efforts to make Ohio a better place to live out the American dream as a small business owner means a lot to me and my colleagues.” The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small businesses. The NFIB Ohio Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members from across the state, voted to present the award to Senator McColley for his outstanding leadership on small business issues. The Ohio office of NFIB presented its first Guardian of Small Business Award to Speaker Bob Cupp in 1988. Historically, the award has been presented annually to one senator and one representative.
