Upcoming Sales Tax Holiday a Chance to Support Local Businesses

NFIB State Director Sylvester Smith says Arkansas’s upcoming sales tax holiday on clothes and school supplies is a chance for people to support small businesses rocked by the series of economic setbacks that began with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This year’s tax holiday is Aug. 6-7. “These two days could have a big impact on local businesses,” Smith said. “Main Street is having a rough time because of things like supply chain breakdowns, high gas prices, and rising prices.” Small business owners surveyed for NFIB’s latest Small Business Economic Trends report ranked inflation as the No. 1 issue affecting their business. “If you shop small for your back-to-school supplies, you’ll get great deals and help the small businesses that are working so hard to provide the things their communities need and keep people working,” White said. The National Federation of Independent Business is the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization.
