NFIB Digital Ads Urge Owners to Thank Lawmakers for Pro-Business Legislation

NFIB on Friday launched a digital ad campaign encouraging small business owners to thank the General Assembly for passing key small-business measures in this year’s session and urging them to approve additional measures when legislators return to Richmond in January. Here is the ad. “We don’t usually buy advertising, but this was a critical year for Virginia’s small businesses,” NFIB State Director Julia Hammond said. “Our members asked their legislators to pass a number of important bills, and we believe it’s equally important for small business owners to thank legislators for supporting Virginia’s job creators.” In January, NFIB launched its Virginia Small Business Recovery Plan, four legislative principles to help ensure that Virginia’s small businesses have the resources they need to move forward during the commonwealth’s economic recovery. “Governor Youngkin and legislators agreed on many of the issues we believe are essential to helping Virginia’s small businesses, including full funding of the commonwealth’s unemployment insurance program and continuing to exempt Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Rebuild Virginia, and other COVID-19-related loans from state taxes,” Hammond said. “However, a number of important issues didn’t make the final cut, including the temporary suspension of Virginia’s fuel tax. “Our small business members face a number of hurdles from fuel prices and inflation to supply chain disruptions and a lack of workers,” she said. “We appreciate everything the General Assembly did for small businesses in this year’s session, but there’s more that needs to be done, and we hope our elected leaders will vote yes on these critical issues in next year’s legislative session, which begins in January.” Click here to read NFIB’s small business report card for this year’s General Assembly.
