GA General Assembly Gets Underway Jan. 10

The 2022 regular session of the Georgia General Assembly will gavel into session on Monday, Jan. 10. We’ll be there advocating on your behalf on the issues that affect your ability to own, operate, and grow your small business. Issues this session are likely to include efforts to restore the supply chain and lawsuit reform. Georgia rose to No. 3 on the American Tort Reform Foundation’s latest “Judicial Hellhole” report. “The hidden costs of Georgia’s legal climate are hurting small business owners,” NFIB State Director Nathan Humphrey said. “Small business owners deserve a legal system that is fair for everyone, but Georgia’s Supreme Court has gradually expanded civil liability, creating an environment that favors plaintiffs at the expense of small businesses and other defendants. “Small business owners now more than ever deserve relief, and it is our hope the General Assembly will look at addressing this important issue during this upcoming session,” Humphrey said. “We will also be working to reduce the tax burden on small businesses and fighting any new mandates that get introduced this session,” he said, adding that NFIB’s positions on public policy hinge on the results of its member ballot. “If you haven’t already, please be sure to vote your ballot,” he said. “Our ‘one member, one vote” ballot process is what dictates and guides our positions.”
